The Norwegian wholesale beverage company, Rosmersholm AS, named after Henrik Ibsen’s play “Rosmersholm” from 1886, is currently launching “Henrik Ibsen No.1 -     Grande Champagne Cognac”.

The company’s objective has right from the beginning been to present the most exclusive cognacs to the international market. The company also wishes to use and call attention to Norwegian manufacturers of traditional artistic crafts for this very special production in the 2006 Ibsen Centennial.

The cognac itself is a unique blend of vintages going back to Henrik Ibsen’s own time. It is supplied by the oldest Norwegian cognac house – Birkedal Hartmann – which has since 1887 supplied much-acclaimed cognacs all over the world.

The crystal decanter is mouth-blown and as such crafted according to old traditions and techniques at AS Hadeland Glassworks, which has produced glassware since 1762. For “Henrik Ibsen No.1 –       Grande Champagne Cognac” they created a custom-made jewel of a crystal decanter based on the “Nøstetangen” model, designed      

by Cecilie Moi Sindum.
The Nøstetangen glassworks was founded in 1741 by “Det Norske Companie” when Christian VI was King of Norway and Denmark. Nøstetangen was closed down in 1777.

The ornaments and engravings on the gold neck band of the decanter were made by A/S Th. Marthinsen Sølvvarefabrikk in Tønsberg, goldsmiths since 1883. They supplied among other things the medals for the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 and Lillehammer in 1994.

The decanter comes in an exclusive and custom-made design box. The number of decanters is limited to 2006. Each decanter is numbered and delivered with a special certificate.

This product will be available in Norway from the Vinmonopolet’s lists in Oct. 2006.

Sales and marketing on the international market will be from our English subsidiary’s website at www.henrikibsen.com, with delivery by DHL courier directly from Cognac to the customer’s door, anywhere in the world.
